We have purchased an 11-acre parcel of land on Choptank Road (Route 15) just south of the Summit Bridge (Route 896 bridge as you head south towards Middletown ). Our plans are to build two buildings on this site, one for boarding and grooming and the other to house a veterinary hospital. We will continue to offer housecalls and our current plan is to keep the Bear office open also. The Middletown office will allow us to have more (as well as more spacious) facilities to be better able to service your pet’s needs!!!
Our Middletown hospital will provide a warm, professional environment offering a full spectrum of services including well- and sick-care appointments, vaccinations, x-ray capabilities, surgery, dental care, and hospitalization. Our hope is that this facility will eventually be able to provide 24-hour doctor and nurse coverage for your pet, while still maintaining a small group of 3-4 doctors so that we can provide complete yet personal care for you and your pet.
Our pet hotel and grooming salon will offer safe, comfortable, and professional care and service for animals who, for whatever the reason, must be away from their human companions. Our feline vacationers will enjoy their stay in our multi-level cat condos with an entire front window view of the outdoors and gardens. Our canine guests will enjoy indoor/outdoor runs, which will allow your dog to choose inside or out (weather permitting). All of our furred visitors will have caring staff to provide them with all of the “creature comforts” – hugs, pats, exercise and “conversation”. Your pet can also look and feel their best by being groomed – whether after vacationing in our pet hotel or as part of their routine grooming care.
With the remainder of our property, we plan to create a pet park and garden area where owners can safely enjoy quality time with their pet. There will be fenced in areas for safe off-lead exercise and obedience/agility training. We also hope to offer:
> Pet “daycare” and playtime throughout the day.
> Obedience and agility training (with positive reinforcement being the emphasized philosophy).
> A memorial garden with pond where owners can come to quietly and peacefully remember and reflect on memories of a beloved pet that has passed. We believe that the loss of a pet is parallel to the loss of a family member and that remembering and memorializing these family members is an integral part of pet ownership and mourning.
> Age and size appropriate doggie socialization groups. This service will allow owners to bring their canine companions for a time of play and socialization with other dogs of approximately the same age and size. Dogs will be able to exercise and release some of their energy, while also learning to be a good friend and playmate to its fellow kind!!
